AMY
SKY / PHENOMENAL WOMAN
>
![]()
Amy Sky, a
Canadian singer/songwriter with high reputation for both
her fine songsmithing sensibility and her own solo albums
"Cool Rain" (1996) and "Burnt By The Sun" (1998), is now
sending brand-new musical message, "Phenomenal Woman" to
you. This new album is a conceptual one that explores,
inspires and celebrates womanhood. Here is the official
comment about the album;
"Phenomenal Woman" is a poem written by
world-renowned author and poet, Dr. Maya Angelou. The
poem is a call to all women to recognize their unique
personality and instill them with confidence to
fulfill their life's dreams. Amy has always been a
firm believer in the power of song and music as a way
to bring about positive change in people's lives. Her
album, PHENOMENAL WOMAN, speaks to women universally,
encouraging and affirming their everyday lives.

<ACM Rating: Suzy has released her 2nd album " As I Am" this summer
with many remarkable beautiful warmhearted tracks such as
"Now I Know" written and originally performed as a
commercial song for Nissan Cedric only in Japan by
Stephen Bishop. And
Suzy covers "Broken Wings", a smash hit of Mr. Mister,
which is arranged by Richard Page. The other songs should
also be noted because of marvelous name of songwriters ;
"Half As Wild" written by Mark Goldenberg with Kit Hain (
known for "Marshall Hain", the duo unit with Julian
Marshall, later known for "Eye To Eye" ), "Love Has Found
This Heart" written by Billy Steinberg (ex I-Ten)
and Jeff Pescetto.

K / AS I AM

Suzy K, a native New Yorker, moved with her
family to Southern California at age eleven. She grew up
there and found herself who wanted to be a pop singer.
Thus, Suzy gave a two-song demo tape to her brother, a
Beverly Hills dentist, who then played it for a
high-powered entertainment attorney held captive during a
dental exam. In short order, the duly impressed attorney
introduced Suzy to record executive Tom Callahan, and
Suzy began work on her 1996 debut album "Coast of
Paradise" for the Coyote Records label.

David Diggs is well-known keyboard player /
composer / producer for his own instrumental solo albums,
particularly "Streetshadows" (1985). Otherwise, you may
recall his producing various-vocalists-featured demo
materials collection CD "Westcoastal"
released in 1999. David Diggs is now releasing his new
instrumental Contemporary Jazz tunes featuring members of
Yellowjackets, Sting, Doug Cameron, Brandon Fields, with
several Adult Contemporary vocal tunes featuring his
daughter Rachel Diggs as "E-KLEK-TRIK". This album is
only available on CD-R through David's official website.
I believe that you will rediscover not only David Diggs'
excellent musical world but also feel happy by finding
out a new talented Adult Contemporary singer /
songwriter, Rachel Diggs by listening to this album.

RICHARD
MARX / DAYS IN AVALON
>
![]()
Richard Marx's new studio recording album "Days
In Avalon" is now on sale under his own label, Signal 21
Music (available through Navarre Corporation's music
division, who has signed an exclusive distribution
agreement, in the U.S. and Canada). As well-known, the
reason Richard Marx left Capitol Records is said to be
that Capitol insisted that Richard should have sweet and
mellow ballad-type potential hit tunes alike "Right Here
Waiting" or "Hold On To The Nights" on his former album
"Flesh and Bone", which made the delay of the album
release. Further, Richard did not satisfy with the fact
that Capitol did not promote "Flesh and Bone" very much.
On this new album, Richard does what he could not do with
Capitol. I feel that the basic concept of this album
should be simple arrangement with less keyboards. To be
honest, I was expecting that Richard would make more
Westcoast-oriented rock album like his debut album. I am
obliged to feel that this album is too simple and with a
little bit excessive country-flavor probably achieved by
the country-field musicians such as Eddie Bayers (drums),
and/or Paul Franklin (Slide Guitar). Richard's melodies
are still great as he wrote "This I Promise You" for
'Nsync. Therefore, I believe Richard blow out his
frustration by making this album as he wanted and I would
have high expectation that he must be back with more pop
great album near future.

Cool Sound would hereby reissue 3 fine Hawaiian Contemporary Music albums on CD. 2 of 3 are late Mackey Feary related albums. Mackey Feary became known in 1975 for his group album "Karapana / Karapana 1". Mackey suddenly left Karapana after releasing their 2nd album "Karapana 2" in 1976 and started his solo career with "Mackey Feary Band" (1978), and followed by "From The Heart" (1979). The below-listed two albums are those released in early 80's. Unfortunately Mackey was gone in February 1999. |
