Amy Sky, a Canadian singer/songwriter with high reputation for both her fine songsmithing sensibility and her own solo albums "Cool Rain" (1996) and "Burnt By The Sun" (1998), is now sending brand-new musical message, "Phenomenal Woman" to you. This new album is a conceptual one that explores, inspires and celebrates womanhood. Here is the official comment about the album;
"Phenomenal Woman" is a poem written by world-renowned author and poet, Dr. Maya Angelou. The poem is a call to all women to recognize their unique personality and instill them with confidence to fulfill their life's dreams. Amy has always been a firm believer in the power of song and music as a way to bring about positive change in people's lives. Her album, PHENOMENAL WOMAN, speaks to women universally, encouraging and affirming their everyday lives.

Enjoy Amy's musical world this winter!

Suzy K, a native New Yorker, moved with her family to Southern California at age eleven. She grew up there and found herself who wanted to be a pop singer. Thus, Suzy gave a two-song demo tape to her brother, a Beverly Hills dentist, who then played it for a high-powered entertainment attorney held captive during a dental exam. In short order, the duly impressed attorney introduced Suzy to record executive Tom Callahan, and Suzy began work on her 1996 debut album "Coast of Paradise" for the Coyote Records label.

Suzy has released her 2nd album " As I Am" this summer with many remarkable beautiful warmhearted tracks such as "Now I Know" written and originally performed as a commercial song for Nissan Cedric only in Japan by Stephen Bishop. And Suzy covers "Broken Wings", a smash hit of Mr. Mister, which is arranged by Richard Page. The other songs should also be noted because of marvelous name of songwriters ; "Half As Wild" written by Mark Goldenberg with Kit Hain ( known for "Marshall Hain", the duo unit with Julian Marshall, later known for "Eye To Eye" ), "Love Has Found This Heart" written by Billy Steinberg (ex I-Ten) and Jeff Pescetto.

David Diggs is well-known keyboard player / composer / producer for his own instrumental solo albums, particularly "Streetshadows" (1985). Otherwise, you may recall his producing various-vocalists-featured demo materials collection CD "Westcoastal" released in 1999. David Diggs is now releasing his new instrumental Contemporary Jazz tunes featuring members of Yellowjackets, Sting, Doug Cameron, Brandon Fields, with several Adult Contemporary vocal tunes featuring his daughter Rachel Diggs as "E-KLEK-TRIK". This album is only available on CD-R through David's official website. I believe that you will rediscover not only David Diggs' excellent musical world but also feel happy by finding out a new talented Adult Contemporary singer / songwriter, Rachel Diggs by listening to this album.

Here is the brand-new Journey album just released in Japan 3 months ahead of worldwide. They are now restarting with the almost perfect album featuring 2 new members, i.e. Dean Castronovo (ex. Bad English) and Steve Augeri (ex. Tall Stories). It is a little surprise for me that this album includes not only hard-edge Journey Rock tunes but also typical Journey ballads tunes. Nine of ten Journey fans must admit that this new album is much better than their comeback album "Trial By Fire" (1996) featuring the great Steve Perry. And you should note that "To Be Alive Again" can be listened only on Japanese version as a bonus!

Can you endure to wait for US / Euro release scheduled early in 2001???

Richard Marx's new studio recording album "Days In Avalon" is now on sale under his own label, Signal 21 Music (available through Navarre Corporation's music division, who has signed an exclusive distribution agreement, in the U.S. and Canada). As well-known, the reason Richard Marx left Capitol Records is said to be that Capitol insisted that Richard should have sweet and mellow ballad-type potential hit tunes alike "Right Here Waiting" or "Hold On To The Nights" on his former album "Flesh and Bone", which made the delay of the album release. Further, Richard did not satisfy with the fact that Capitol did not promote "Flesh and Bone" very much. On this new album, Richard does what he could not do with Capitol. I feel that the basic concept of this album should be simple arrangement with less keyboards. To be honest, I was expecting that Richard would make more Westcoast-oriented rock album like his debut album. I am obliged to feel that this album is too simple and with a little bit excessive country-flavor probably achieved by the country-field musicians such as Eddie Bayers (drums), and/or Paul Franklin (Slide Guitar). Richard's melodies are still great as he wrote "This I Promise You" for 'Nsync. Therefore, I believe Richard blow out his frustration by making this album as he wanted and I would have high expectation that he must be back with more pop great album near future.

What If is the superband comprising of Bob Wilson, Larry Williams, two ex-Seawind members and Tommy Funderburk, the voice of Airplay. The story of "What if" should be back in 1981.... After collapse of Seawind, Bob Wilson and Larry Williams met with Tommy Funderburk and started collaboration. Thus, Bob and Tommy completed an album as a special project "The Front", which was CCM album released under Refuge, Christian label in 1984. And then, Bob and Tommy formed the new band "What if" with Larry Williams (Keyboards, Sax), Larry Klein (bass) and Michael Thompson (guitar) and they actually did live performances before signing with RCA. Comparing with "The Front", this album is full of straight-hard-pop-rock music with secular lyrics. And it might be noted that Eric Persing, known for his works with Roby Duke added synthetic sounds to this album.

In recent years, we could have reissue-CD titles of this Louisiana band including their 5th album "So Fired Up" (1983) featuring Fergie Frederiksen known later as the second vocalist of TOTO. "Last Safe Place" is their 4th album originally released in 1982 under RCA, which followed the album "Up" (1980) under Capitol Records. On this 5th album, Le Roux succeeded to reveal various style of music, i.e. the hard-driven American Rock like "Addicted", a little-bit Styx-vein tune "The Last Safe Place On Earth", a sophisticated mid-tempo pop ballad tune "Inspiration" and a little-bit Caribian-flavored tune "Midnight Summer Dream".

Randy Edelman is now well-known for his Hollywood movie scores such as "Twins", "Ghost busters 2", "Kindergarten Cop" and so on. However, you should note that he was a good singer in 70's. It was 1970 when Randy Edelman first album "Randy Edelman" was released. In 1972 "The Laughter And The Tears" followed. His 3rd album "Prime Cuts" (1974) supported by Michael Omartian was a stepping stone of his career. After releasing the 5th album "Fairwell Fairbanks", he signed with Arista established by Clive Davis. Toshi Nakada reviews that Randy Edelman seemed to be expected to release Las Vegas Dinner Show type Middle of the Road Music like Barry Manillow, the typical successful artist under Arista of those days on his liner notes of this reissue CD. Hundred percent I agree with Toshi Nakada when I listen to this album. This album is full of good old-mid70's-pop music. If you would like to enjoy such atmosphere, you should buy. If you would expect Westcoast / AOR vein, this is not for you.

Michael Omartian is widely known as one of the essential producers / arrangers / songwriters / keyboard players among us. However, we should never forget his solo artist career at the same time. Please allow me to look back his biography and the solo artist career of Michael Omartian here. Michael Omartian was born in Chicago on November 26, 1945. Michael started studio session works in Los Angeles around 1969. Michael married Stormie Sherric in 1973. In the next year, Michael released his self-produced first solo album "White Horse" under abc. In 1975, "On Ward" which was later reissued as "Adam Again" in 1976, followed. In 1978, "Seasons Of The Soul" was released as the collaboration album with Stormie. Since then, Michael and Stormie released 4 collaboration albums in total; "The Builder" (1980), "Mainstream" (1982) and "Omartian Odyssey : The Musical Journey of Michael Omartian and Stormie Omartian" (1982). In 1983, the live album featuring Chapters Of Acts "Together Live" was released. The 1986 album "Conversations" was a kind of New Age instrumental album. One other instrumental album "Contemporary Mozart", classical piano album was released. Between those 2 instrumental albums, Michael released another solo album "Race" in 1991.

Cool Sound would hereby reissue 3 fine Hawaiian Contemporary Music albums on CD. 2 of 3 are late Mackey Feary related albums. Mackey Feary became known in 1975 for his group album "Karapana / Karapana 1". Mackey suddenly left Karapana after releasing their 2nd album "Karapana 2" in 1976 and started his solo career with "Mackey Feary Band" (1978), and followed by "From The Heart" (1979). The below-listed two albums are those released in early 80's. Unfortunately Mackey was gone in February 1999.

Meanwhile, Island Band released 3 albums "Our Earth" (1979) and "I'm Your Captain" (1982) and "Long Summer Days" (1984).
