Kikuko Kondo
Dear Bob,
Thank you for your wonderful letter and many haiku which I received in June.
I also enjoyed your lovely pictures of the sea around North Carolina and the tern
("ajisashi" in Japanese) of Virginia. Those states are on the east coast of the US,
aren't they ? I think you two enjoy the sea very much. The sea is beautiful and huge.
I'll also take pictures of the sea around here with my small camera, but I'm afraid
I might not be able to take pictures as well as you.

Moreover, I like all of your haiku about the sea which you sent me last time. I feel
your magnificent and manly sense from them, and I learn that I can't write about it
like you, particularly your haiku;

distant lighthouse
waves of moonlight crash
on the empty beach

which I like the best of all.
In Japan this summer is very hot, every day it continues to be over 30 centigrade.
However, it's nice and happy for me that Tatsuro came home from the US and he'll stay
in Japan till August 18.
I wish you good health and luck.
Sincerely yours, Kikuko Kondo
