1978年にカーペンターズはクリスマス･アルバム「Christmas Portrait」を発売しました。
クリスマスの名曲20数曲が切れ目なく収録され、まるでミュージカルのようです。
アレンジは、ピーター･ナイト、ビリー･メイ、リチャードがそれぞれ担当しています。
カレンの声はクリスマス･ソングには本当にぴったりですね。尚、ドイツ盤CDのみリミックス前の音源でこのアルバム
をCDで楽しむことが出来ます。

1984年, それはカレンの死の翌年、このクリスマス･アルバム「An Old-Fashioned Christmas」が発売されました。
前作、「Christmas Portrait」にはおさめきれない程のクリスマス･ソングを録音していたため、これが実現しました。
残されたカレンのボーカルは勿論ですが、リチャードのピアノ･ソロとボーカルが大きくクローズ･アップされています。
