The Twelfth Annual John Denver Beach Cleanup and Memorial Tribute will be
held Sunday, October 11,
2009, in Pacific Grove. John Denver Beach is located at the turnout on
Ocean View Blvd., between
Acropolis and Asilomar, right across from the Pacific Grove Golf
Course.
The beach cleanup will start at about 11:00. The memorial tribute will be
held at the same location
from 5:00 pm until about 6:00 pm, with a moment of silence at 5:28 pm. Be

timeless
singer/songwriter/performer John Denver. The release of Rocky Mountain
High: Live In Japan on DVD
and Around The World Live on 5 DVD celebrates the life and immeasurable
influence of this cherished
artist. [MSRP $59.98 for 5DVD, $11.98 for single DVD]
John Denver was a rare combination: an exemplary songwriter, gifted
performer, and unwavering
philanthropist. His peaceful vision and generous spirit permeated into
every aspect of his work,
touching fans all over the world. Selling over 40 million albums worldwide,
Denver's music has
acquired him two Grammys, three American Music Awards, two Country Music
Awards, and an Emmy, as
well as an induction into the Songwriter's Hall Of Fame. It was his
devotion to environmental and
humanitarian issues that stratified him from music mainstay to cultural
icon before his passing in a
1997 plane crash.
The first three discs of Around The World Live are comprised of live
performances from Australia in
1977, Japan in 1981, and England in 1986, complete with bonus tracks. Disc
4 complements the
collection with a 1984 Japanese solo acoustic set, as well as a sprinkling
of Farm Aid performances
from 1985, 1987, and 1990. The final disc digs a bit deeper with two
documentaries, each running an
hour. One is an Earth Day program from 1990, and the other is a 1972
special about Bighorn sheep,
which reside in Denver's beloved Rocky Mountains. This beautiful restored
footage was produced by
Barry Ehrmann of Enliven Entertainment, who also produced ZZ Top's Live
>From Texas DVD and Jason
Aldean's Wide Open Live & More DVD (both released via Eagle
Rock).

of his seven shows from

"Sunshine on My Shoulders," and "Thank God I'm A Country Boy."

Oh, let John know in contemplation
The rhythmic songs he left
behind
Had a mentorship upon our humanity
With a deep sense of loss in
kind.
For a tree fell from the greening forest
The fateful day John Denver
left.
And a luminous star dimmed in the Heavens
Because it mourned and
felt bereft.
Please let John know that we still honor him
Feel "the vision of (his)
goodness..." and his merit.
Let him sense his life was never in vain
So as
to gladden John's free-flying Spirit.

Eagle's Wings

On a fine, October
day,
John took flight and soared away,
Into California skies.
Too soon,
we learned of his demise.
He was the golden minstrel boy,
Who made us
laugh and made us cry.
He longed to see all battles cease,
Worked
endlessly for earthly peace.
He said all living things have
worth.
Where there was death he saw rebirth.
He hoped that every boy and
girl
Would strive, each day, to make "One World".
It's twelve years,
now, he went away.
I, sometimes, curse and rue the day.
Yet, I will never
say "Goodbye".
For look! On eagle's wings he flies.
The singer's
silent. Not the song!
His words endure, poetic, strong.
For us, the music
has no end,
And we are proud to call him friend.
