  • BMG USA will release four CDs in August and September

    The re-release of "Rocky Mountain Christmas" will have 5 bonus tracks: "Jingle Bells" from "Whose Garden", "White Christmas" from 1975 (previously unreleased!!!!!), "Perhaps Love" (solo), "The Music Is You", and "Dreamland Express" as bonus tracks. "JD" will have side 1 of "Whose Garden", and "Spirit" will have side 2 of "Whose Garden" as bonus tracks, excluding "Jingle Bells", which was put on the Christmas CD.

    And September 29 is slated to bring "Forever John," consisting of 12 unreleased performances, 10 of them never-before-heard Denver songs. (August 1)

  • Jim Horn's new John Denver tribute

    Jim Horn, JD's Sax/Flute player from late 70s to early 90s, has finished the recording session for his new John Denver tribute called "FAR OUT" in Nashville, this July. Jim is joined by featured artists such as Pete Huttlinger, Chris Nole and Rich Garcia in this beautiful instrumental arrangement of Johns songs. This tribute will be released sometime in October. (August 1)

  • RCA is planning a new production on JD, which features 12 of his previously unreleased recordings for RCA from 1969 to1986. The CD is in the progress under the title of "The Legend Lives" and will be released in late September. Also, RCA will release "Sprit" and "JD" album on CD, hopefully in late August. They also have a plan to release "Autograph" album on CD in the near future. (July 12)

  • "The Wildlife Concert" will be released in LD format from Sony on July 15. (June 15)

  • To add to the confusion, Laserlight has put out 2 'new' cd's they called "The Very Best of John Denver: Rocky Mountain High" & "Take Me Home, Country Roads". It was culled from the 5-cd set "The John Denver Collection". (June 15)

  • Pete Huttlinger and Chris Nole had finished recording their tribute album called "Colors in Time-musical memories of John Denver". For further information read a message from Pete Huttlinger. (April 9)

  • On March 24, RCA released a new album called "Greatest Country Hits". It is another compilation and contains nothing new.

    The backing vocals by The Starland Vocal Band on track 11 is edited out for unknown reasons. The first note of the intro of track18 is mistakenly missing. The artwork is, however, very beautiful and it is worth buying only for this reason. (April 9)

  • The release of "Best Of John Denver" has been postponed until January 26.(Feb. 2)

  • Madacy Records (USA) will release a new CD titled "Best Of John Denver" Dec. 23. It is on the advanced order list of CDnow. (Dec. 21)

  • BMG Japan will release "Love Again" album, under the title of "Country Roads", on Dec. 17. (Dec.10)

  • BMG Japan will release the 4 CD set "Country Roads Collection" on Dec. 17.

  • A new CD called "A Celebration of Life" released in USA on Nov. 18. It is a shortened version of "Love Again - Greatest & Latest", released in Australia and Holland almost a year ago. You can order it from CDnow. (Nov. 23)

  • The following is an article from the Billboard magazine(97/11/8 issue).

    Record Roundup: River North/Nashville Records will release the late John Denver's "A Celebration of Life" Nov. 18. The album, a remake of Denver hits, was cut here in Sept 1996. Besides such classics as "Rocky Mountain High" and "Sunshine on my Shoulders," the album inclused solo acoustic version of "Perhaps Love." "Christmas For Cowboys" from the album will be released as a single Nov. 18.
    "This was John's last recording here," River North/Nashville VP/GM Eddie Mascolo tells Nashville Scene. "We were on the verge of signing him to an artist contract when he died. We were just a little late."

  • "All Aboard!" was the last album while he was alive.
