John's last concerts

John Denver's
last concert tour

  • John had been doing a short tour just a week before the fatal crash. Though he was overweighted, he looked so full of life and sounded so great. Sadly, the concert in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 5, 1997, became his last one. The following are the most recent concerts that he performed.

    John Denver's Concerts:
    =======================

    Sept 20, 1997 - Baltimore, MD
    Sept 24, 1997 - New Orleans, LA (This show was cancelled)
    Sept 26 - 28, 1997 - Houston, TX
    Oct 1, 1997 - Fort Worth, Texas
    Oct 4, 1997 - Austin, TX
    Oct 5, 1997 - Corpus Christi, Texas

  • The concert in Baltimore, Sept. 20, John was with his band. He showed up on stage wearing the ugliest shirt fans had ever seen!! This ugly shirt soon became a talk among the fans and some of them even suggested to John's staff backstage that he had better not to wear it .

  • Sept. 24 New Orleans show was cancelled due to the lack of promotion and ticket did not sell well.

  • Sept. 26-28, 3 concerts in Houston, Texas. This time, John was backed by the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Richard Kaufman conductor (a friend of Lee Holdridge). Needless to say they sounded wonderful. Selections included "Flying For Me" and "Foxfire Suite". He sang his newest song called "Yellowstone" for the very first time.

  • Song list of Oct. 4, in Austin, Texas show

  • Oct. 5, Corpus Christi was the end of his tour. Once again, just JD and his guitar. John did "Calypso" beautifully for an encore and pleased his audience.

  • After the October tour, John was to go to Mid East Asia and South Africa in December, and then Australia and South East Asia early in 1998. It is said that he was thinking of coming to Japan after that. What a pitty!!!
