Here is a little utility that may be interesting to some people:
What it does:
- if the trash is empty, it will beep and quit;
- if it contains file/folder(s), it will display the number of items and the total amount of the contents in Byte, KB, MB or GB, and it will ask if you want to empty the trash, or open it, or cancel, with the warning "Are you sure you want to empty the trash?";
- if you click on "Cancel", it quits;
- if you click on "Open Trash", Finder will open the trash;
- if you click on "Empty Trash", it will empty the trash.
Please note that the Trash in question is the trash of your personal account (/Users/[your_account]/.Trash/); it is not the trash which is under the root directory (/.Trashes/501/, etc.; The number 501 may be different depending on your configuration).
I wrote the original script, which has been improved by Nir Soffer.
The script is a compiled script (not an application); to run it, you may put it in the folder:
/Users/[your_account]/Library/Scripts/FinderUtilities/Or you may use it with iKey (or other utilities of this kind).
Please download the script from this link (4 KB).
I would appreciate any feedback. Thank you in advance.
