Mei (= bright), ji (= reign), ni (= two), bu (= an old Japanese monetary unit), ban (= seal), kin (= gold).
Meiji period (AD 1868-1912).
Production era : AD 1868-1869.
Production place : Kaheishi, Osaka.
Obverse : up and down : a pattern of a paulownia.
Obverse : middle : Chinese character inscription : from right to left : Ni bu. Ni (= two), bu (= an old Japanese monetary unit). Edge-dots.
Reverse : Chinese character inscription : from up to down : Mitsu tsugu.
Mitsu tsugu is name of the Director of the Gold Mint Bureau. And his signature. Edge-dots.
Quality : Gold 223 / Silver 777.

Another weighty opinion argues that this type of coin (Ni bu ban kin, To me bu type) was made in Kinza, Edo (Tokyo) from AD 1860 to AD 1869. I also approve of this opinion. But to avoid confusion, I have announced an old opinion.
