● PROFILE
Katsuma Nakajima was born in Tokyo, japan on March 5, 1958.
Studied composition and orchestration under Nobuo Terahara (Aram
Khachaturian’s student), and conducting under Shigenobu Yamaoka. (
Also he studied privately under Karen Khachaturian and Andre Eshpai.)
Nakajima won prizes at the “Student Composition Contest in
Japan”(1973), and the competition of “Japan Society for
contemporary music”(1987)
His work was highly praised by Tikhon Khrennikov (Secretary
General of the “Union of Soviet Composers”,. )
Since then, he attended to many international music festivals such
as Leningrad Spring, Moscow Autumn, Borbard Symposium, Nauryuz 21,
Encuentros in Buenos Aires , Annual review in Yugoslavia , Music of
Five Continents, Orchestral Presentation, The Heart of Japan, Two
Days and Nights of New Music in Odessa・・・etc,
His works were performed (broadcast and recording ) in around 20
countries, such as Japan, Russia, Germany, France, Austria,
Switzerland, Poland, Argentina, Serbia, Czech Republic, Sweden,
Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United States, Armenia, Uzbekistan,
Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Bulgaria, Ukraine・・.
Nakajima’s principal compositions are Symphonic Episodes<The
Earth> （Moscow MUZYKA）performed by St Petersburg symphony
orchestra , and <Trumpet Concertino> (Mother Earth) performed
by St Petersburg academic symphony orchestra. And <Miserere>
for organ and narrator (Moscow Muzyka) premiered by L・Shshkhanova
More than 50 scores were published by many publishers such as
Moscow MUZYKA, Mother Earth, Zen-On, Doremi, Kawai, Ongaku no Tomo,
・・・・etc
Nakajima arranged many orchestral music to piano, and also he
wrote commentaries in a lot of scores published by Zen-On and Dremi.
He wrote <Score reading> , <Composer’s file> (Dremi)
, and the book of the memory of Dmitry Kabalevsky(Hanna).
About the activities in the cultural organizations, Nakajima acted
as the office director of both “The committee for music and dance in
Japan” and , “Japan Russia society for musicians”. and also the
editor of the journal <New Composers> published by “Japan
Society for contemporary music”
At present, He is the adviser to “The committee for music and
dance in Japan “and the committeeman of “Japan Eurasia Society”
And the members of “Japan Federation of composers” and “Japan
society for contemporary music>”

1958年3月5日、東京、千代田区生まれ。作曲をアラム・ハチャトゥリャン門下の寺原伸夫に、管弦楽法をショスターコヴィチ門下のカレン・ハチャトゥリャンに、指揮を山岡重信に師事。（アンドレ・エシパイにも個人的に管弦楽法を習ったことがある。）1972年、全日本学生作曲コンクール、1987年、現音作曲新人賞に入選。
ソビエト作曲家同盟書記長チーホン・フレンニコフに作品が評価され、85年にソビエトでの現代音楽祭に参加したのを皮切りに、モスクワの秋、レニングラードの春、ボルバード
シンポジウム、５大陸の音楽、モスクワ日本の心、ハバロフスク現代音楽展、オデーサ新音楽の２昼夜、ブエノスアイレス・エンクエントロス展、ユーゴ回顧展、オーケストラル・プレゼンテーション・・・ほか多数の国際音楽祭や現代音楽展に作品参加。その国は、日本、ロシア、ドイツ、フランス、オーストリア、スイス、ポーランド、アルゼンチン、セルビア、チェコ、スウエーデン、ボスニア・ヘルツェゴビナ、アメリカ、アルメニア、ウズベキスタン、カザフスタン、タジキスタン、ブルガリア、ウクライナなど20カ国ほどになる。
とりわけユーラシア圏の音楽家との繋がりが大きく、サンクトペテルブルク交響楽団、サンクトペテルブルク国立アカデミー交響楽団、サラエボフィルハーモニー管弦楽団、カザフスタン交響楽団、ヤロスラブリ打楽器合奏団・・・。そしてE・アシュケナージ、L・シシュハーノヴァ、V・ヴァイドマン姉妹、ナヴァサルジャン、ドゥルジーニン・・などの名手たちによって作品が初演・再演されてきた。
また全音楽譜出版社からの仕事も四半世紀ほど担っており、オーケストラをピアノにする編曲では、ハチャトゥリヤン、カバレフスキー、ムソルグスキー、ホルスト、シベリウスなどの作品。またオーケストラスコアの解説・分析では、グリンカ、リムスキー＝コルサコフ、チャイコフスキー、ラフマニノフ、ベルリオーズ・・などの曲があり、その出版数は30冊以上になる。中には深澤亮子、E・アシュケナージによるフィンガリングが入っている編曲譜もあり、イギリスのブージー＆ホークスや、ドイツのショット、アメリカのハル・レナードなどでも取り扱われてきた。
主要作品には、交響的挿話”地球”、ヴァイオリンとピアノのための”気まぐれな情景”、パイプオルガンと朗読のための”ミゼレレ”（いずれもモスクワ国立ムジカ社）や、トランペット小協奏曲、舞踊組曲”森の民”（いずれもマザーアース社からの総譜）など５０冊ほど出版されている。著書は、＜スコアリーディングを始める前に＞や＜作曲家ファイル＞などがあり（いずれもドレミ楽譜出版）、前者は大学で参考書として使われているほか筆者による公開講座が全国で行われてきた。近年は、カバレフスキーの思い出の本＜道化師のギャロップ＞（ハンナ出版）が上梓された。
文化団体での活動は、日本音楽舞踊会議や日本・ロシア音楽家協会の事務局長・次長を、前者は１４年、後者では３０年勤めた。また日本現代音楽協会で広報委員も務め＜ニューコンポーザー＞誌の編集にあたった。
執筆に関しては、＜商工ジャーナル＞誌で12年間、現代音楽を紹介する連載を行い、＜ショパン＞誌で、ロシアの作曲家を紹介する連載を１年間続けた。
CDは、中島克磨初期作品集（NAVI)、中島克磨作・編曲集（ライヴノーツ）などがリリースされており、北川翔（バラライカ）や西岡奈津子（電子オルガン）、萱原祐子（ピアノ）などのアルバムにも作品が収められている。
現在、日本作曲家協議会、日本現代音楽協会、日本ユーラシア協会、日ロ音楽家協会、日本音楽舞踊会議、日本音楽著作権協会などに所属している。
